Mecum Auctions Launches New Podcast With Host Matt Avery

Mecum Auctions has launched a new podcast that will be hosted by author and executive producer of the automotive news website the Transmission, Matt Avery. He's joined by cohost John Kraman, TV commentator for the company's broadcasts on NBC Sports Network.

Both of the industry veterans will offer insights and commentary on the new “Mecum Presents On the Move” podcast, streaming now at Mecum.com as well as on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and SoundCloud.

The show is scheduled to be a weekly, 30-40 minute news download that aims to bring listeners up to speed on all things automotive, with special focus on the Mecum auction realm and the wide world of collector cars.

“We’ve learned from research, direct contact at our auctions, and through all means of communication that our audience has an insatiable appetite for more information about Mecum Auctions and the collector car market from our inside perspective,” Vice President of Marketing and Presentation Sam Murtaugh said. “With auctions taking place regularly throughout the year, more than 200 hours of original programming and 900 hours annually on NBC Sports Network, and the millions of people engaging with our brand at Mecum.com, we’re continuously looking for more ways to deliver fresh content to our existing audience in addition to introducing the Mecum brand to new audiences. Our podcast is the perfect extension to continue building our audience and providing even more content to those already engaged with Mecum.”

The debut episode of “On the Move” includes an interview with Consignment Director Frank Mecum to talk about the upcoming schedule of auctions, including Dana Mecum’s 33rd Original Spring Classic slated for this June 23-28 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis. Mecum also discusses the phenomenal consignments that compose The John Atzbach Collection and the Richard Welkowitz Estate Collection.

“We’ve all become accustomed to receiving our news and entertainment from different platforms to accommodate our increasingly ‘on the move’ lifestyles,” Kraman said. “With our podcast, Matt and I want to deliver news of the collector car industry and hobby, and interviews with market leaders. This will include topics that we’re unable to address on our TV auction coverage but is interesting to our auction attendees, TV viewers and the millions who have the passion for collector cars.”
